This home on Coronado Island was in need of a complete restoration. We used our Dust containment sanding equipment to correct a poor job done by an unqualified flooring professional.  We used oil-based sealer to bring out the natural color of the Brazillian cherry then applied 2 coats of Bona Traffic in a Semi-gloss sheen. The final product is very nice and our client was is very pleased. There are many high end homes in Coronado with wood floors. The biggest obstacle working on the island is the high level of humidity. This week we are taking on the task of restoring and refinishing a hickory floor system. We were contacted by a homeowner to estimate the cost of restoring their flooring that had been neglegted by the previous owner. After we transported all the specialty sanders and dust containment equipment we installed masking plastic. We covered all cabintery and sensitive areas for the duration of the project. We applied multiple stain samples for the owner to choose from. After choosing a color we proceeded to sand, stain and finish all their flooring in about a weeks time.

We recently took on the task of restoring a solid Ash Hardwood Floor in a Del Mar home. This floor had been installed in 30 years ago and was in very worn condition. After completely stripping all the old polyurethane finish and filling the cracks between the boards, we applied 1 coat of sealer and 2 coats of commercial grade water-based polyurethane in a satin sheen. The flooring looks like new again and the clients are having us return to service the downstairs very soon.

Many factory distressed wood floors have been installed in San Diego over the last few decades. Most of them have never received any maintenance other than cleaning. The factory applied aluminum oxide finish eventually wears out from excessive wear, sun and water damage. San Diego Hardwoods can restore these type of floors with our process. The loose finish is abraded then the flooring is re-colored. The flooring is then re-coated with a commercial grade polyurethane giving it a new sheen an protecting it into the future. 

San Diego is home to a lot of solid white and red oak flooring. Over the last century solid oak flooring has been steadily used as the flooring of choice in many homes due to its availability, durability and beauty. As the flooring is used the finish wears out and requires maintenance. The normal process is to re-coat the flooring with polyurethane floor finish before the wood is exposed. When this is not performed the wood starts to look dirty and grey and can no longer be cleaned. The process of restoring the flooring from that point is to refinish the flooring. This process will completely remove all finish and surface wear in preparation for refinishing. The flooring can be sealed to bring out the natural color of the wood or stained a desired color. Then the flooring is protected with a polyurethane finish to protect it from wear. This process takes about a week to perform in most situations and then the finish needs to cure before being used normally.

THIS IS A SOLID OAK FLOOR THAT WAS COMPLETELY RESTORED TO ITS NATURAL COLOR AND BEAUTY. THE FLOORIN WAS STAINED A VERY DARK BROWN COLOR AND THE NEW OWNERS WANTED A MUCH LIGHTER LOOK. AFTER COMPLETE SANDING OF THE FLOORING A LIGHT STAIN WAS APPLIED AND THEN A COMMERCIAL GRADE WATER BASED POLYURETHANE FINISH WAS APPLIED IN A SATIN SHEEN.

This is an engineered red oak floor that was in need of a complete restoration. This floor was completely sanded raw with dust containment equipment then finished with Bona finishing products. The commercial grade water-based polyurethane will make this floor extremely tough and last for a very long time. San Diego Hardwoods is can restore any type of wood flooring very quickly with the highest quality possible.

This is solid unfinished, random length 4" X 3/4" select grade rift and quartered white oak flooring being installed in Pacific Beach. This Hardwood Floor is being stapled down to the plywood sub-floor. This type of oak flooring needs to be sanded and finished onsite. The color and sheen level is yet to be determined with multiple on site samples performed for the homeowner. Bona Traffic polyurethane finish will be applied to this san diego hardwood floor.
